I watched the film: Centurion yesterday. A friend raved about it. It wasn't as good as he said, but still good and enthralling. It's about what could have happened to the Ninth Roman Legion which disappeared in Pictland (in Scotland.) It's told from the point of view of a centurion who is the only soldier to survive. The Picts are pretty scary; the scenery magnificent. There is a sense of menace maintained throughout, helped by some eery music.
The Pict huntress.
The legion preparing for attack.
A woman warrior.
Of course, to my annoyance, the three women in the film are all young and attractive, even the witch.

All the same, it sounds like you still found aspects of the film you appreciated. Judging by these pictures, it looks like the production design and cinematography was really good.
