These are great, but your screen resolution size aspect ratio (sorry brain dead moment :P) looks off, like they are stretched. All widescreen movies should look like this, with the black area on top and bottom: May I ask what program you use to make screencaps with?
Mine look nothing like your one. No borders, no measurements, no kb and all stretched, as you said. I knew my way of doing it was too easy to be right!
My DVDs open in Intervideo WINDVD, which has a control panel underneath the screen. This means I can't have the full screen up if I want to take screencaps.
The control panel has a button for "capture." The screencap then shows up on a small panel which allows me to copy the screencap. All the screencaps go into a WINDVD file as bitmap images, in "My Pictures." folder. I then convert them using Fastone Image Viewer and load them to my scrapbook.

Actually the measurements and kb are put on there by the place where I hosted the picture, the original cap just has the black borders. :) Apparently I'm not that great of a Goddess, because you have me stumped! I used to use WINDVD and don't remember the ratio ever being off. I dug out my old laptop and made a cap of the movie using WINDVD and it came out with black borders top and bottom, even without having the movie playing full size. When you watch the movie, how does it look? Is it widescreen or fullscreen?
I'm not sure how to solve your problem with WINDVD, but I can recommend a great program (which is free!) that I use to make screencaps with, if you are interested in downloading it.
Oh, btw, I have to eat my words ... I just made a couple of caps of "The Tudors" and there is no blackout! Even though I have a widescreen laptop, most widescreen movies still play with that blackout at top and bottom, but not "The Tudors"! Never say never I guess. ;)

Anyway, here is the free program I promised you. :) It's called The KMPlayer. Once you get it up and running, place your cursor anywhere in the blank area of the part that says KMPlayer and right click, it will give you the menu, which looks like this. Pop your DVD in and if it does not automatically play, then select "open", and then "open DVD". When you get to a spot that you want to cap, there are hot keys (shortcut keys) to take quick screencaps with. Make sure the movie is full screen and then simply click: Ctrl+Alt+E. The menu for making screencaps is the capture menu, which looks like this. You can even choose what folders you want the captures to go into as well as choosing to make them jpeg, so that you don't have to convert them! You can also make continuous and frame by frame captures with this program, but that gets a little more complicated. When you are ready to do that, ask me and I'll tell you how. :) Play around with it, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me. One word of warning though, when using this program, don't chose "Frame:Original size", the caps don't come out in the right aspect ratio for some reason.

I must apologize. I didn't realize that there was a new version of the KMPlayer out there when I gave you the link. I was working on some fanart on my desktop today and happened to need some caps and discovered that I didn't have the program on my desktop, so I downloaded it. OMG, it's completely different and didn't have the capture menu at all! I un-installed the new version and found the old version, which works just fine. Phew. Here is the old version. I hope you haven't been massively confused or anything. Sorry about that. :/
